Friends
of the Library Bookstore The Friends raise funds and recycle books through the Friends of the Library Bookstore located
on the third floor of the downtown Orlando Public Library. Staffed by volunteers, the store raises over $125,000 yearly
through the sale of withdrawn materials from the library collection, as well as patron donations. Prices begin at $1.50
for hardcover books and $1.00 for paperbacks.
The store, which is open daily,
also features three annual sales to help assure a steady rotation of stock. All proceeds help fund a variety of library
programs and projects that are not included in the regular Library budget.
In addition to books, the
store carries magazines, maps, records, compact discs, cassettes, and other miscellaneous items. Also available are
items of use to the library patrons, such as genealogy forms, pens, pencils, notepads, and other stationery items.
