Welcome Friends!
The
Friends of the Orange County Library System was first organized in 1947 as a group of citizens in support of our Library System
and the role of public libraries in general. Over the years, the Friends have worked diligently to raise
funds for the Library System and to educate people about the important role libraries play in enriching the community.
Friends of
the Library are people who know that a community with a first-rate library is a better place to live. Friends
of the Library bring together involved, caring people who are willing to work for exceptional and innovative libraries.
If
you are someone who cares about the library and want to receive the latest information on how to support the Friends of the
Library, please sign up for our Advocacy
Alerts today.
Although
libraries are tax supported, the Friends of the Library help provide funding for extra services and programs.
The Friends is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization.
Mission Statement
The Friends of the Orange County Library
System support and cooperate with the Library in enhancing resources, innovations, and services for the public. The
Friends work to increase public awareness and use of the Library. The Friends sponsor library programs, and also work to encourage
gifts, endowments, and bequests for the benefit of the Library.
What Do We Do?
Friends of the Library make it possible for the Orange County Library System to improve the quality
and scope of its services. Everyone should be able to enjoy the privileges of information access, entertainment
and education found in a great library system – and the Friends work to make that happen!
