The Friends
of the Library created the Ray Frenier Memorial Scholarship in honor and memory of the late Ray Frenier who volunteered in
the Book Store for more than two decades. This scholarship recognizes Orange County graduating high school seniors ho
have volunteered a minimum of 75 hours to the library system, and who have demonstrated academic excellence and exceptional
community service. Scholarship applicants were required to submit an essay expressing what the experience of volunteering
at the library has meant to them, and to provide one letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, coach or
other positive adult role model. The scholarship winners were recognized at the Friends of the Library Annual Meeting
and Luncheon on May 8 at the Orlando Public Library.
